At Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH), you'll do more than practice exceptional medicine, you'll have the rare opportunity to build something from the ground up. We're seeking a motivated board-certified or board-eligible Internal Medicine specialist to establish and grow our brand-new Internal Medicine service within a thriving specialty and emergency hospital.
This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial-minded clinician who wants the autonomy to develop their ideal practice while enjoying the support of a collaborative hospital team and the resources of the Ethos Veterinary Health network. You'll help shape the future of specialty care in Wichita while creating workflows, service offerings, and a culture that reflects your vision.
You'll enjoy the unique opportunity to build your own service, with the flexibility to design your department, establish workflows, and create a practice that aligns with your professional goals and clinical interests. VESH offers approximately 9,500 square feet of dedicated medical space, with future expansion plans already underway, providing the resources and support needed to grow your service as demand continues to increase.
Working alongside our Surgery and Dentistry services, you'll be part of a highly collaborative specialty environment while leveraging the expertise of the broader Ethos Veterinary Health network. Through Ethos, you'll have access to a nationwide community of Internal Medicine specialists and multidisciplinary experts committed to mentorship, collaboration, and advancing veterinary medicine.
For those interested in clinical research, Ethos provides opportunities to participate in meaningful studies through our Ethos Discovery and Ethos Science programs. Whether contributing samples, participating in clinical trials, or engaging in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) studies, you'll have the ability to help advance veterinary medicine while continuing to focus on clinical practice.

In your day-to-day, you will:
- Manage complex internal medicine cases spanning GI, hepatobiliary, infectious disease, endocrine, hematologic, and respiratory conditions.
- Perform and/or oversee diagnostics such as ultrasound, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, and advanced imaging as available.
- Coordinate with specialty and emergency teams on shared patients and transfers.
- Mentor technicians and assistants as part of daily case management.
- Pursue growth opportunities in ultrasound proficiency, interventional procedures, and emerging treatment modalities.
- Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
- Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
What You Bring
- DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for Kansas veterinary licensure.
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine (DACVIM) or Board-Eligible in Internal Medicine.
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
- An entrepreneurial spirit and interest in building and growing a specialty service.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
- A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, and advancing specialty medicine.
