- Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Agricultural Ecohydrology (JR105064)
Description
The Simon A. Haley School of Agriculture and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Agricultural Ecohydrology. We seek an innovative, collaborative scientist working at the intersection of agricultural hydrology, soil and water quality, nutrient management, biogeochemistry, and watershed processes.
The successful candidate will establish a nationally recognized, externally funded research and Extension program addressing water-related challenges in agricultural and coastal landscapes, with particular relevance to the Delmarva Peninsula and Chesapeake Bay watershed. Areas of interest include agricultural water management, nutrient transport, soil health, climate resilience, drainage and irrigation, salinity, watershed hydrology, and applications of remote sensing, geospatial technologies, predictive modeling, and data-driven approaches.
The position offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and field-based research through UMES's agricultural and environmental research infrastructure. The successful candidate will also mentor students, contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, and translate research findings into practical solutions for agricultural producers, natural-resource managers, and other stakeholders.
This cross-departmental appointment is shared between the Department of Natural Sciences (60%; tenure home) and the Department of Agriculture, Food, and Resource Sciences (40%), with integrated responsibilities in research, Extension, and teaching.
Requirements
A Ph.D. in Hydrology, Ecohydrology, Agricultural or Biological Engineering, Soil Science, Environmental Science, Geology, Natural Resources, Watershed Science, or a closely related field is required. Candidates must demonstrate research productivity or strong scholarly potential, effective communication and collaboration skills, and potential for successful teaching, mentoring, and externally funded research. Experience in agricultural or coastal systems, quantitative approaches, and stakeholder engagement is particularly desirable.
