- This position is a member of the Regulatory Compliance team within the Safety Division.
- You will manage formal regulatory correspondence between American Airlines and government agencies, primarily the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and lead root cause investigations of global compliance issues to ensure alignment with applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs).
What you'll do

- Lead root cause compliance investigations of global, systemic issues and help business units determine appropriate corrective actions and identify system contributing factors of compliance escapes
- Leverage data to assess operational inefficiencies, validate compliance findings, and monitor effectiveness of corrective actions
- Ensure all FAA correspondence meets established standards and regulatory expectations
- Track and monitor corrective actions associated with regulatory correspondence
- Serve as a liaison with the FAA and other regulatory agencies
- Provide oversight on regulatory compliance issues to internal stakeholders
- Manage correspondence within ETQ for tracking, trending, and reporting purposes
- Participate in working groups, Data Analysis Groups (DAG) meetings
- Provide support to Legal as needed
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Experience with just culture principles, root cause investigations, and Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Broad knowledge of airline operations and/or airworthiness
- Understanding of FAA regulations
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Technical Operational experience
- Strong attention to detail and ability to assess cross-functional impacts and dependencies
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and perform under pressure
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must work will with deadlines
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to prepare reports based on data analysis
- Ability to interact with various levels of management and regulatory agencies
- Effective organization and planning skills
- Excellent interpersonal and written skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
