Description
A highly experienced Payroll Manager is needed for a large, complex payroll. Your new companyA large, complex organisation operating in a highly regulated environment, supporting a diverse workforce across multiple business units. The organisation is known for its strong governance, structured processes and commitment to service excellence.
Your new role
- Lead and manage a payroll team, with indirect oversight of compensation and benefits activities to ensure accurate and timely payment of employee entitlements, including out-of-cycle payments, advances, superannuation, leave calculations, deductions and related payments.
- Provide leadership across payroll and remuneration services, ensuring effective resolution of enquiries and complex payroll issues.
- Build and maintain a high-performing team through effective resource planning, capability development and performance management, fostering engagement and accountability.
- Ensure payroll and superannuation processes meet internal control requirements and external audit and regulatory obligations.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, industrial instruments and statutory requirements, including taxation, superannuation, payroll tax, workers compensation and reporting obligations.
- Provide operational oversight of payroll services, proactively identifying risks and issues and escalating as appropriate to support informed decision-making.
- Review, enhance and implement payroll and remuneration compliance controls and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure consistent application of agreed processes, standards and tools to support efficient, reliable and high-quality service delivery.
- Maintain high standards of payroll data integrity to support effective reporting, insights and decision-making.
- Ensure payroll systems and processes are fit for purpose, thoroughly tested and optimised to support ongoing improvement.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders, managing competing priorities and expectations to deliver service excellence.
- Drive ongoing review and analysis of payroll services to identify opportunities for improvement, informed by service metrics and performance data.
- Establish service performance standards, monitor outcomes and report against agreed KPIs, supporting a culture of accountability.
- Participate in governance and service review forums, contributing to performance monitoring, risk management and continuous improvement.
- Extensive experience in senior payroll roles, supported by relevant qualifications or equivalent professional expertise.
- Proven ability to lead payroll teams and deliver accurate, end-to-end payroll services in complex, deadline-driven environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of awards and agreements, statutory compliance and payroll operations.
- Advanced experience with enterprise payroll and HR systems and payroll data management.
- Highly developed organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills, with a strong focus on service delivery, compliance and continuous improvement.
