Description: Fox Rothschild has an opening in the Kansas City, MO office for a Litigation Associate with three to five years of general commercial litigation experience. This position offers meaningful client interaction, substantial responsibility, and the opportunity to work on sophisticated matters in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. We are looking for someone who brings hands-on litigation experience and a genuine passion for client service. We are not currently accepting resumes from search firms for this position.
Qualifications: Juris Doctorate (JD) required. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong academic credentials and excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills required.
- Experience in general commercial litigation, including contracts, workplace policy and litigation, intellectual property disputes, commercial disputes, construction matters, real estate, insurance matters, food manufacturing, aviation, and surety.
- Experience with demand letters, discovery, case development, and real-time case strategy.
- Experience taking and defending depositions, including expert depositions.
- Experience drafting and arguing motions.
- Trial experience a plus but not required.
- Large law firm experience strongly preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
