Our client is an International Banking Group currently expanding in Hong Kong across its core businesses in Corporate & Institutional Banking. As part of strategic planning, an excellent leadership opportunity has arisen for an all-rounded Finance Leader to head the Finance function in Hong Kong.

The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:

• Act as a core member of the Hong Kong leadership team, partnering with the CEO and Business Leaders to shape the financial strategies and drive sustainable growth.
• Oversee the entire finance function, spanning FP&A, accounting operations, regulatory reporting, head office reporting, internal financial reporting, liquidity and capital management.
• Define and execute the branch's financial strategy, aligning commercial priorities with market conditions and long-term objectives.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing forward-looking financial insights and strategic recommendations to enhance revenue, profitability, and overall business performance.
• Lead the full financial planning cycle, including budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis, ensuring disciplined performance management.
• Drive rigorous financial performance analysis, including variance reviews against budgets and cost structures, while delivering timely and insightful management reporting (including financial and non-financial KPIs).
• Build and lead a high-performing finance team, ensuring strong governance, robust controls, and clear accountability against KPIs.
• Ensure full compliance with all regulatory, statutory, and corporate requirements, including timely submission of Hong Kong regulatory returns and surveys.
• Act as the primary finance representative with the Hong Kong regulatory bodies, managing regulatory engagement and expectations.
• Strengthen internal control frameworks, advise on cost optimisation and profit enhancement opportunities, collaborate with head office on reporting and disclosures, and support appropriate accounting treatment for new products.

Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:

• University degree with professional accounting qualification
• Minimum 15 years relevant experience across areas in financial reporting, regulatory reporting, financial control, financial statement analysis, finance process transformation, financial planning & analysis, business finance partnership and / or liquidity / capital management
• Experience in overseeing HKMA regulatory reporting
• Industry experience from Banking is a must from Corporate Banking, Institutional Banking and / or Private Banking
• Experience in technical accounting, process improvement and system implementation work
• Proven track record in team management and leadership is a MUST
• Strong business acumen with solid analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with fluency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
