OverviewAlbuquerque Country Club is seeking an accomplished, service-driven Head Golf Professional to lead all aspects of golf operations at one of New Mexico's most historic and respected private clubs.
Founded in 1914, Albuquerque Country Club offers a premier member experience centered around a classic parkland-style golf course, a vibrant and engaged membership, and a longstanding commitment to excellence in service and hospitality. This is an exceptional opportunity for a proven leader to elevate the golf program while shaping the next chapter of the Club's golf operations.
Overview
The Head Golf Professional serves as the department head for all golf operations and reports directly to the General Manager/COO. This position provides both strategic leadership and daily operational oversight of the golf program, ensuring a high-quality, consistent, and engaging experience for the membership.
This individual will be responsible for leading the golf team, enhancing the overall member experience, and driving participation through innovative programming and events. The role requires a visible and approachable leader who is actively engaged with members and staff, while also demonstrating strong business acumen in retail, merchandising, and operational performance.
Club Overview
• 18-hole parkland-style golf course
• Practice facilities include driving range, putting green, and short game area
• Approximately 351 golfing members
• Traditional golf experience with no tee time system
• Active tournament calendar and member programming
• Golf operations revenue approximately $1.1M annually
• Golf course maintenance budget approximately $1.1M annually
Experience Required
Experience and Qualifications
• PGA Member in good standing, Class A preferred
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a private club or high-end golf environment
• Strong understanding of golf operations, merchandising, and financial performance
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Passion for delivering an exceptional member experience
Essential Responsibilities

Leadership and Golf Operations
• Provide overall leadership and direction for all golf operations
• Oversee daily play, tournaments, outings, and golf-related activities
• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop assistant professionals and golf staff
• Establish and uphold service standards that reflect the Club's commitment to excellence
• Ensure efficient and consistent execution of all golf operations
Member Experience
• Deliver an exceptional and personalized golf experience for all members and guests
• Maintain a strong, visible presence throughout daily operations
• Ensure attention to detail in all areas including cart fleet presentation, practice facilities, and staging
• Build meaningful relationships with members to foster engagement and satisfaction
Player Development and Programming
• Lead and grow junior golf programming through Operation 36
• Expand women's golf initiatives and participation
• Develop creative and inclusive programming to engage all demographics of the membership
• Promote instruction, clinics, and player development opportunities
Collaboration and Club Integration
• Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to align course conditions with member expectations
• Partner with the Golf & Greens Committee in an advisory capacity
• Collaborate with Club leadership to support broader Club initiatives and events
• Contribute to the overall culture and success of the Club
Retail and Merchandising
• Drive golf shop performance through strategic merchandising and sales initiatives
• Manage inventory, purchasing, and product mix to maximize revenue and member satisfaction
• Maintain a fresh, relevant, and appealing retail environment
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices
