- Fractional Executive Director
Description
About Team Day
Team Day (Day means kindness in Nepali) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to combating poverty and illiteracy by funding and building primary schools in the developing world.
Founded in 2018 by leaders in the advertising and technology industries, the organization funded its first primary school in 2019 in the Western Terai of Nepal. As of today, Team Day has constructed eleven primary schools across five countries and is on track to fund its 12th, 13th, and 14th schools in 2026.
The organization has raised over $1,000,000 from 1,500+ donors, driven primarily by peers across the advertising and tech sectors—including CEOs, founders, and top industry executives. To date, the core fundraising model has been peer-to-peer fundraising: individuals join Team Day by committing to raise $10,000 toward school construction costs in exchange for the opportunity to travel to a future school groundbreaking (all travel is self-funded by participants).
As we enter our next phase of growth, we aim to both scale fundraising by adding major gifts and build a data-driven insights practice to help Team Day and others measure the long-term impact of school-building efforts in the developing world.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Given the growth of the organization, Team Day is at a pivotal time, seeking a highly proactive, hands-on Fractional Executive Director (ED) to guide our next chapter. It is critical that the ED be committed to our mission driven work impacting equity, literacy, and global opportunity.
The Executive Director will be the organization’s first paid hire, serving as a strategic and operational partner to the founders and reporting directly to our CEO and Founder. This is a part-time, contract-based role ideal for a senior nonprofit, fundraising, or mission-driven leader with deep experience in major gifts.
The right candidate is entrepreneurial, tech-savvy, and comfortable with the ambiguity, often present in lean, scrappy, high impact organizations. They are action-oriented and willing to create strategy, while still doing the small tasks required for the organization to move forward. They excel at opening doors to high-net-worth individuals, building repeatable fundraising systems, and helping pilot a data insights program that demonstrates impact.
Team Day’s fundraising model is targeted, relationship-driven, and focused on high-value individuals. Event planning and grant writing are not current priorities.
This role is remote, with occasional travel for donor meetings and school groundbreakings.
