Your new role
As the Legal Finance Manager, you will take ownership of the firm's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across both trust and office accounting functions.This is a hands-on and varied position, combining financial reporting, compliance oversight, and process improvement, while acting as a key advisor to leadership.
Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation of monthly management reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow, KPI reporting) with clear commentary and analysis
• Management of multi-entity accounting and reporting
• Budget preparation and ongoing financial monitoring
• Oversight of trust accounting processes, including receipting and payments
• Daily and monthly trust account reconciliations
• Management of billing, invoicing, and debtor control
• Bank reconciliations across trust and office accounts
• Ensuring compliance with legal trust accounting regulations
• Preparation for and coordination of trust account audits (including QLS requirements)
• Liaising with external accountants and auditors
• BAS preparation and reconciliation
• Payroll processing, including STP and PAYG obligations
• Supporting year-end financial procedures and reporting
• Assisting with Professional Indemnity Insurance renewals

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience in a legal finance or trust accounting role
• Strong understanding of legal trust accounting requirements
• High attention to detail with strong time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Proficiency in accounting and practice management systems
• Experience with Xero, Smokeball, or Employment Hero
• Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Business
