The Law Offices of King & King, PLLC are seeking two attorneys to join our established and growing northern Michigan law firm and become an integral member of our estate planning, probate, and transactional practice groups and/or our Litigation practice group.
Our firm represents individuals, families, businesses, and organizations throughout northern Michigan. Our practice includes estate planning, probate and estate administration, real estate, business transactions, and a variety of other transactional matters.
Our litigation practice includes commercial litigation, family law, criminal law, real estate and construction disputes, and other civil litigation.
We are looking for attorney(s) who enjoy practicing law, value working as part of a team, and want the opportunity to build a long-term practice within an established firm.
A Team-Oriented Approach
At King & King, we believe that practicing law is better when attorneys work together. Our attorneys regularly collaborate on client matters, discuss strategy, share ideas and experience, and assist one another in addressing complex legal issues. We believe our clients are best served when their legal issues and goals are approached through a collaborative process.
An Established Practice with Room to Grow
King & King started serving Northern Michigan in 2002, and a successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with existing clients and matters from the outset. The demand for legal services in Northern Michigan continues to grow, and we are seeking an attorney who can join our team to help serve our existing and future clients.
The successful candidate will not be expected to arrive with an established book of business. Instead, the attorney will have the opportunity to develop relationships with existing firm clients while building their own client relationships and areas of practice over time.

Depending upon experience and interests, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
- Assist individuals and families with estate planning and related matters;
- Prepare wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents;
- Assist clients with probate and estate administration;
- Represent fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and other interested parties in probate matters;
- Work with clients on trust administration and related matters;
- Represent individuals and businesses in real estate and other transactional matters;
- Assist with business formation and business transactions;
- Research and draft legal documents, agreements, and other transactional materials;
- Meet directly with clients and develop long-term professional relationships;
- Work collaboratively with other attorneys on matters involving multiple areas of practice; and
- Develop lasting relationships with existing and new firm clients.
The Litigation Opportunity
Depending upon experience and interests, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
- Represent clients in a variety of civil and criminal matters;
- Handle cases from initial consultation through resolution;
- Conduct discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery;
- Take and defend depositions;
- Research and draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents;
- Negotiate with opposing counsel and participate in mediations;
- Appear in courts throughout northern Michigan;
- Prepare for and participate in hearings and trials;
- Work collaboratively with other attorneys on complex or challenging matters; and
- Develop lasting relationships with existing and new firm clients.
Who We Are Looking For
We are interested in attorneys who:
- Are licensed to practice law in Michigan and in good standing;
- Have a genuine interest in estate planning, probate, transactional or litigation practice;
- Possess strong research, writing, drafting, and analytical skills;
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and colleagues;
- Are willing to collaborate and contribute to a team environment;
- Are capable of working independently while recognizing the value of seeking and providing assistance; and
- Want to build a long-term legal career in northern Michigan.
Experience in estate planning, probate, transactional and/or litigation law is preferred, but we are willing to consider attorneys at various stages of their careers who demonstrate strong interest and aptitude in these areas.
