The Position
The Director of Family Birthing Center will provide strategic and operational leadership for a comprehensive women’s and family-centered care environment, overseeing approximately 55 FTEs across registered nurses, OB scrub technicians, health unit coordinators, lactation consultants, and other clinical support team members. This leader will be responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement.
The Director of Family Birthing Center will oversee 50-bed unit, consisting of labor and delivery/postpartum rooms, triage spaces, and nursery services, with access to Level III and Level IV NICU capabilities. The Director will oversee day-to-day operations while ensuring staffing, workflows, resources, and patient care practices effectively support the needs of patients and families.
Seeking a visible, hands-on leader to build strong relationships with an established team and continue strengthening the department’s culture. The Director will regularly round with staff, listen to their perspectives, address concerns proactively, and create an environment where employees feel heard, supported, and empowered while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
The Director will help staff successfully navigate these changes, reinforce new processes, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and quality.
This leader will partner with leaders and staff to develop new and experienced team members, support professional growth, and create an environment that attracts and retains high-quality clinicians.
The Director will play a central role in advancing patient experience and clinical outcomes, with attention to quality metrics, transfer rates, complication rates, birth outcomes, and other performance indicators. Opportunities include continuing to enhance the environment for patients and families through a focus on quietness, cleanliness, compassionate service, and family-centered care.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Labor & Delivery leader with resilience, emotional intelligence, and communication skills to lead through complexity and change. A demonstrated history of leadership stability and sustained impact will be particularly valuable in this role.
Requirements
BSN is required; MSN is strongly preferred.
A minimum of five years of prior experience/expertise in clinical areas relevant to unit patient population is required.
A minimum of three years of supervisory experience at the director level or above is required.
Compensation Details
The base salary range for this position is $136,000 to $180,000 annually. In addition, a leader may be eligible for other benefits, including but not limited to health insurance coverage, retirement benefits, and bonuses. The total compensation for the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The base salary range listed above is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

Moderate four-season climate weather pattern with average minimum December temperatures of 23 degrees and average summer maximum of 87 degrees and 300 plus days of sunshine makes for comfortable living.
