Description
Position Overview: The Office of the Vice President and General Counsel (“OGC”) at the University of Michigan (University or U-M) is conducting a search for an experienced health care attorney to serve as an Associate General Counsel. The successful candidate will provide counsel and support to the University’s clinical enterprise, inclusive of its fully integrated academic medical center, its medical school, and its state-wide clinical network (“Michigan Medicine”), and periodically will advise the University’s other schools, colleges, and administrative areas on health care regulatory matters. The successful candidate must be able to work independently on a wide range of complex and novel issues. The role will be tailored to the unique qualifications and experiences of the selected candidate as related to client needs and other OGC team members’ areas of expertise and workloads. The OGC team currently works a hybrid model with three days a week in the office.

Requirements
Experience: At least four (4) years of experience providing legal advice on a wide range of healthcare matters, with a particular focus on supporting the clinical risk department and clinical departments on a variety of patient-facing matters, including patient consent, behavioral health, and interactions with security and law enforcement. Experience working on issues related to an academic medical center is a plus.
