OverviewThe Country Club of Louisiana (CCLA) is a private, member-owned, full-service country club committed to providing exceptional experiences for its members, their families, and guests in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.
Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, CCLA combines the traditions of a private country club with a commitment to continually evolving and enhancing the member experience. Nestled among centuries-old oaks, magnolias, and scenic lakes, the club's natural beauty complements its extensive amenities, including exceptional dining and event spaces, fitness facilities, tennis, swimming, and a comprehensive golf operation.
CCLA is entering an exciting period of growth and investment in its golf facilities. A comprehensive golf and practice facility renovation is underway under the direction of acclaimed golf course architect Bill Bergin. A completely renovated practice facility is scheduled to open in September 2026 and will include a new six-hole short course, The Rook. A comprehensive renovation of the 18-hole golf course is scheduled to begin in November 2026.
This is an exciting time to join the CCLA professional staff. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a growing golf operation while gaining valuable experience during a significant period of investment and development.
Experience Required
- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, but not required
- Previous private club or golf industry experience is preferred
- PGA membership or progress toward PGA membership is preferred

Essential Responsibilities
As an Assistant Golf Professional, you will play an important role in both the day-to-day operation and continued development of the CCLA golf program.
This position is designed for an individual who wants to develop a career in the golf industry and gain meaningful experience in all facets of a high-level private club golf operation. Working closely with the PGA Director of Golf and professional staff, the Assistant Golf Professional will have opportunities to develop skills in golf instruction, junior programming, tournament operations, merchandising, inventory management, member relations, and daily golf operations.
The ideal candidate will be service-oriented, dependable, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, demonstrates initiative, communicates effectively, and understands that a successful private club operation begins with consistently excellent service to its members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the PGA Director of Golf with the day-to-day operation of the golf department
- Provide individual and group golf instruction to members, juniors, and guests of varying skill levels
- Support and contribute to the growth of CCLA's active junior golf program
- Assist with tournaments, leagues, member events, and other golf programming
- Engage with members and guests on the golf course and throughout the golf operation to enhance their experience
- Assist with daily golf shop merchandising and operations
- Organize and merchandise incoming inventory
- Participate in monthly inventory counts and assist with inventory management
- Maintain a thorough understanding of club policies, procedures, and operating standards
- Ensure established procedures are followed for efficient and smooth operations
- Work collaboratively with the professional staff and player service team
- Take initiative in identifying opportunities to improve the member experience and overall operation
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of all areas of the golf operation
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT
CCLA is committed to developing professionals who want to build a career in the golf industry. This position provides exposure to a wide range of responsibilities, including golf instruction, junior programming, tournament operations, golf shop merchandising,
inventory management, member relations, and daily club operations.
The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced professional staff and will have the opportunity to take ownership of responsibilities as their knowledge, experience, and skillset develop.
CCLA encourages continued professional development and advancement within the PGA of America. PGA dues are paid by the club, and professional development and continuing education opportunities are encouraged.
SCHEDULE & CLUB COMMITMENT
This is a full-time, year-round private club position. The Assistant Golf Professional should expect a schedule that includes weekends, holidays, tournaments, and other periods of high-member activity. At the same time, work-life balance is an important part of our staff culture, and most weeks will consist of approximately 40-50 hours.
Flexibility and a willingness to support the needs of the golf operation are essential. Our professional staff work together to provide consistent service to our members while also respecting the needs of the team and maintaining a healthy balance between professional and personal commitments.

- PGA Director of Golf
- PGA Teaching Professional - Full Time
- Lead Assistant Golf Professional - Full Time
- Three Assistant Golf Professionals - Full Time
- 1-3 Assistants in Training / Player Service Leads - Part Time or Full Time
- 2-3 Golf Shop Associates - Part Time
- 18-24 Player Service Staff - Part Time
This team structure provides the opportunity to work alongside professionals with diverse areas of expertise while gaining a comprehensive understanding of a high-level
private club golf operation.
