Company Overview

We are owned and operated by NC State University. We are located in Columbia, NC on the Albemarle Sound, which is about an hour from the Outer Banks.

Our mission is to provide year-round training and education that promotes lifelong learning through outdoor educational and recreation programs for all.

The Center’s staff is dedicated to providing every participant an opportunity to feel accepted, valued and cared about as a member of the community. Creating friendships and a sense of safety are as important to us as the activities we teach. It is our vision to inspire and create productive citizens through lifelong learning opportunities that promote diversity & inclusion for all.

Company History

4?H is delivered by Cooperative Extension—a community of more than 100 public universities across the nation that provides experiences where young people learn by doing. For more than 100 years, 4?H has welcomed young people of all beliefs and backgrounds, giving kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better.

4-H is the largest youth development organization in North Carolina, educating hundreds of thousands of young people each year. Extension’s 4-H program is growing the next generation of leaders and equipping youth with the skills to succeed.

For more than 80 years, North Carolina 4-H camping system has taught youth life skills through multiple centers located from the mountains to the sandhills to the coast. Each year, more than 11,000 youth from across the state participate in 4-H camping programs at North Carolina’s 4-H educational centers. Thousands more participate in conferences, school enrichment programs, special events, and workshops.

The Eastern 4-H Center was opened in 2001 were we serve 128 summer camp participants each week for 8 weeks out of the summer. During the off season we provide facilities for school field trips, conferences, special event and workshops. We also facilitate provided three local counties with the Meals on Wheels program for older adults.
