Company History
Bird Dog Recruitment and Consulting was founded out of direct, hands-on experience operating at the highest levels of state government. After spending a significant portion of my career leading searches for cabinet secretaries on behalf of a governor, I identified a clear gap in the market. Government leaders were often working with recruiters who did not fully understand how government functions, how decisions are made, or what type of leadership talent is required to execute within that environment.
Bird Dog was established in 2019 to fill that gap.
From the outset, the firm focused on high-level executive placements, partnering with governors and senior state leaders to identify and secure cabinet-level talent capable of driving complex, mission-critical agencies.
Building on that foundation, Bird Dog has evolved into a national search firm. In 2026, we launched a strategic expansion to serve local governments, recognizing a growing need for a recruitment partner that is both innovative and operationally fluent in the public sector.
Today, Bird Dog Recruitment and Consulting brings a distinct advantage: we understand government from the inside.
