Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Royalty Accountant to manage the calculation, reporting, and payment of royalties in accordance with licensing agreements. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate royalty accounting, maintain contract compliance, reconcile financial data, and collaborate with internal teams and external licensors/licensees. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals and experience working with licensing agreements, intellectual property, or entertainment, gaming, publishing, or consumer products industries. Experience with Brand Comply software is a plus. 

Requirements

Calculate and process royalty statements and payments in accordance with contractual agreements. 

Review and interpret licensing contracts on the licensing software platform Brand Comply to determine royalty rates, payment schedules, advances, guarantees, and reporting requirements. 

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual royalty accruals and journal entries. 

Reconcile royalty calculations against sales, returns, deductions, and other financial data. 

Research and resolve royalty discrepancies, contract interpretation issues, and payment inquiries. 

Assist with month-end and year-end close activities and forecasts related to royalty accounting. 

Monitor compliance with licensing agreements and identify potential financial risks. 

Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. 

Prepare management reports and analyses related to royalty expense, liabilities, and licensing performance. 

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and contractual information.
