Description
The Division of Math and Natural Sciences in the College of Innovation & Technology (CIT) at the University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or some related field. Candidates must show exceptional promise in both teaching and research and are expected to have an appreciation of, and commitment to, the value of diversity and working with a diverse faculty and student body. Candidates must articulate and demonstrate teaching excellence for undergraduate courses.
Researchers with experience in, but not limited to, fields such as biomanufacturing, fermentation science, bioinformatics, omics analysis, imaging techniques or mass spectrometry molecular characterization are strongly encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates will teach undergraduate courses and potentially graduate courses, mentor students, develop externally funded research program(s), and publish in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

Qualifications
Applicants of all ranks require a Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related field. Applicants must show potential for developing a self-sustaining research program as evidenced through metrics including, but not limited to, peer-reviewed publications, grant submissions/awards, and research presentations. Applicants at the rank of tenured Associate and Full Professor must have academic experience demonstrating excellent teaching in experiential settings and a strong scholarship record, with a history of successful grant writing.

Record of teaching excellence in face-to-face, online, and experiential settings commensurate with desired rank
Record of research and scholarly publications commensurate with desired rank

Record of leadership and mentorship commensurate with desired rank
Job expectations include: Supporting courses in the fields of biomanufacturing, bioinformatics, or chemical analysis in a newly proposed Biotechnology program. Additional teaching assignments in established programs will also be expected as necessary depending on the applicant’s field of expertise; development of a self-sustaining research program involving students that will result in publications and externally funded grant opportunities; and service to the Department, Division, University, Community and Profession.

Eligibility for a tenure-track associate/professor position is assessed upon hire according to the College of Innovation & Technology Promotion and Tenure Guidelines.
Tenure is contingent upon the University of Michigan Board of Regents approval.
