Description

Affinity Credit Union, located in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to direct the financial affairs of the Credit Union; oversee general accounting, investments, financial reporting, budgeting, and serve as the HR liaison. The CFO will establish major economic and financial objectives and policies for the Credit Union.

 The essential functions of the CFO position:

• Oversee accounting staff; hires, trains, directs, and evaluates employee performance with the department; recommends promotions/transfers and salary adjustments.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports and records, making recommendations relative to the accounting of reserve, allowance for loan loss, assets and expenditures. Ensure complete and accurate financial, statistical, and accounting records of the Credit Union. Oversee balancing and reconciling of all general ledgers.
• Prepare financial forecasts and make recommendations with the CEO and Senior Management team.
• Serve as the HR liaison with the credit union's PEO, including benefits administration, payroll, salary administration, and timecard management. Work with the CEO and management team regarding employment practices as outlined in the employee handbook and escalated personnel matters. Administer the compensation, job description, and performance evaluation software. (Compease and Performance Pro).
• Responsible for overseeing ALM activities including cash position, investment portfolio accounting and reporting.
• Prepare required reports/documents for regulatory reporting, including but not limited to 5300 Call Report, Form 5500, 990/990T, Money's and Credits Tax, FHLB BBC Collateral Reporting, 401K Census and Sales Tax.
• Responsible for overseeing the accounts payable process.
• Serves as a member of ALCO, Investment Committee, Business Loan Committee.
• Works with third parties including regulators, auditors and insurers on periodic examinations and audits.
• Add, update, and revise company policies within area of responsibility.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualified candidates must have accounting and financial management experience in the financial services industry; credit union industry experience is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
