JOB GOAL: The Director of Student Supports and Compliance provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for districtwide student support systems, behavioral compliance, school safety, attendance, athletics compliance, and student wellness initiatives. The position ensures district compliance with federal and state laws, OSPI regulations, board policies, and district procedures related to student rights, discipline, safety, and behavioral supports. The Director works collaboratively with district and building leaders to develop equitable, legally compliant, student-centered systems that promote safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments for all students.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Human Resources, Counseling, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field preferred. 2. Valid Washington State administrative credential required. 3. Successful administrative experience in K-12 education required. Secondary experience preferred 4. Experience in student discipline, employee relations, investigations, labor relations, athletics administration, or human resources administration preferred. 5. Knowledge of Washington State education law, RCW/WAC requirements, collective bargaining agreements, WIAA regulations, and board policy. 6. Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion. 7. Experience conducting investigations and resolving conflicts in educational settings is preferred. 8. Knowledge of behavioral intervention systems, PBIS/SEL/MTSS frameworks, attendance laws, safety planning, suicide intervention protocols, and crisis response procedures. 9. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, staff, families, community agencies, and labor representatives. 10. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 11. Ability to interpret and apply district policy, administrative procedures, and employment practices consistently and fairly.
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent
SUPERVISES: Assigned district staff and programs as designated by the Assistant Superintendent, including oversight responsibilities for designated district safety, transportation, and FCRC staff.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Oversee and support implementation of districtwide student discipline systems and behavioral policies aligned with Washington law, OSPI guidance, and Board policy. 2. Ensure compliance with student discipline requirements, including due process protections, emergency removals, suspensions, expulsions, reengagement requirements, and behavioral manifestation considerations for students with disabilities. 3. Serve as the district administrator for student discipline appeal hearings and related due process proceedings. 4. Review and monitor all major student disciplinary referrals, including all Q referrals involving removal, suspension, or exclusionary practices. 5. Monitor and ensure accurate state reporting requirements for suspensions, expulsions, truancy, HIB, and related student conduct data. 6. Coordinate district compliance regarding Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) procedures, investigations, reporting, and training requirements. 7. Conduct or coordinate equity audits and disproportionality reviews of discipline data and provide recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement. 8. Support schools in implementing PBIS, SEL, restorative practices, MTSS behavioral supports, and trauma-informed practices. 9. Oversee annual review, revision, and publication of the District Student Handbook and related student conduct procedures. 10. Support implementation and monitoring of district attendance systems and truancy interventions in compliance with Washington compulsory attendance laws. 11. Coordinate district threat assessment protocols and multidisciplinary response procedures. 12. Serve as a district leader in school safety planning, behavioral threat assessment, crisis response, and prevention systems. 13. Monitor and respond to Vector system tickets related to suicide intervention concerns and student safety alerts. 14. Coordinate annual training for psychologists, counselors, nurses, and designated staff regarding suicide intervention protocols and student safety procedures. 15. Oversee Suicide Intervention Questionnaire (SIQ) procedures, training, and approval processes. 16. Provide oversight and coordination regarding transportation-related student behavioral supports and discipline matters. 17. Support district athletics compliance and coordination with WIAA requirements, eligibility procedures, and related student participation matters. 18. Collaborate with athletic directors and school administrators regarding student conduct, eligibility, safety, and participation concerns. 19. Assist with oversight and administration of coaching contracts and related compliance matters. 20. Collaborate with Human Resources regarding employee matters connected to student conduct, supervision, safety, investigations, and workplace concerns. 21. Support labor-management collaboration and participate in meetings related to student support systems, behavioral expectations, and operational concerns. 22. Chair or participate in district committees and teams related to student supports, compliance, safety, attendance, and behavioral systems. 23. Coordinate the Transcript Review Committee and related student records review processes. 24. Maintain current knowledge of changes in RCW, WAC, OSPI guidance, Title IX requirements, and other applicable laws impacting student services and compliance as they relate to athletics. 25. Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for district leadership and the Board of Directors as assigned. 26. Provide district-level oversight and coordination of security operations, including supervision and support of the district security supervisor, safety protocols, and related security personnel and programs. 27. Coordinate and oversee the district Family and Community Resource Center (FCRC), including partnerships, student and family support services, resource coordination, and systems that support student engagement, attendance, wellness, and stability. 28. Serve as the district McKinney-Vento liaison and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements related to identification, enrollment, transportation coordination, services, and educational access for students experiencing homelessness 29. Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of the position.

EVALUATION: The performance of this position will be evaluated according to the Board's policy for Central Office Administrators, using the WASA Central Office Leadership Framework.
