Northern Plains Resource Council seeks a Good Neighbor Agreement Coordinator who will provide key operational and administrative support for a landmark agreement between community members impacted by mining operations and industry. The GNA Coordinator also supports the grassroots organizing of Northern Plains’ local affiliates in Stillwater and Sweet Grass Counties.

LOCATION: This is an in-person position based in Billings, Montana, but comes with flexible working arrangements. We also welcome applicants who are based in and prefer to remain in Stillwater or Sweet Grass Counties, Montana. Individuals based in Stillwater or Sweet Grass Counties would be expected to work from our Billings office 1-2 days each week.

You will be directly supervised by the Director of Organizing.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide administrative and logistical support for the day-to-day implementation of a nationally recognized Good Neighbor Agreement;
Plan and manage logistics for GNA meetings, including scheduling, materials, technology, food, and virtual facilitation;
Take detailed notes, track decisions, and produce clear, accurate meeting summaries and records;
Maintain organized systems for documents, transcripts, and reports;
Track action items, timelines, and deliverables across the work of the Agreement;
Manage financial tracking and monthly reporting for GNA-related expenses and reimbursements;
Write and compile regular reports, summaries, and communications for internal and external audiences;
Coordinate logistics and participation for site visits, inspections, and technical activities;
Support two local affiliates (in Stillwater and Sweetgrass Counties) with meeting planning, communications, event coordination, and local campaigns;
Build relationships with local members, and help recruit and develop grassroots leaders.
WHO YOU ARE
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and systems-minded – you’re a strong manager of time and you excel at keeping things on track;
Skilled at managing logistics and juggling multiple priorities without dropping details;
A clear and reliable communicator, especially in writing (notes, summaries, reports, emails);
Self-directed and dependable, with strong follow-through and time management;
Able to handle complex processes, timelines, and documentation with accuracy;
Tech-comfortable (e.g., Zoom, shared drives, databases, spreadsheets, document management);
Professional and composed in structured, multi-stakeholder environments;
Interested in understanding mining or technical issues;
Interested in community organizing, environmental issues, or rural communities;
Based in or willing to travel regularly within Stillwater and Sweet Grass Counties;
Experience in administration, project coordination, financial reporting, or similar work is a plus.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Our compensation philosophy and transparent salary structure flows from our belief that our people are the most important part of our organization. We offer thriving wages, ample benefits, and opportunities for growth and development.
The salary for this position ranges from $46,000 to $51,000, depending on relevant professional experience.
We offer options for fully and partially employer-paid health insurance, 20 days of paid vacation plus 13 paid holidays (including the week from Christmas Eve through New Year), 12 days of paid sick and personal leave, and 8 weeks of paid parental leave with the option to extend utilizing other leave types. In addition, we offer a retirement plan, an employer paid cell phone plan, and a sabbatical program.
This is a full-time, permanent position and is represented by Teamsters Local 190 and its terms and conditions are subject to negotiation between Northern Plains and the Union
