FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Lehman College of the City University of New York invites applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor tenured or tenure-track or an Associate Professor tenured or tenure-track position in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. Applicants must hold an earned Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders or a related discipline, and preferably hold ASHA CCC-SLP and be eligible for NYS licensure. The successful candidate must have an active record of scholarship and a strong commitment to teaching communication sciences and disorders at the undergraduate and graduate levels to culturally and linguistically diverse students.
Lehman College is a four-year senior college and one of 25 colleges in the City University of New York (CUNY). Located in the Bronx, NY, Lehman is a Hispanic-serving institution and serves over 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences enrolls an average of 350 undergraduate and 100-125 graduate students each year. The teaching load is 18 credit hours over a 9-month appointment. Opportunities exist to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate clinicians, and collaborate with other CUNY faculty in research. Service to the college, university, and community is part of the mission, as is a clear commitment to student engagement, including advisement. Teaching is reduced for junior faculty over the first five years for scholarly development, and all faculty are actively encouraged to seek external funding. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship and professional development support.
Faculty are expected to maintain a regular on-campus presence for teaching, office hours, departmental and other activities. You may be assigned to teach evenings and/or weekends and/or online, either synchronously or asynchronously. This is not a remote position.
