This 12-month, tenure-eligible position is located in Little Rock, AR. The successful candidate will leverage the College’s existing implementation science research program to integrate sustainable, evidence-based health interventions in Arkansas pharmacy settings. The candidate will build upon their nationally recognized, extramurally funded research program to 1) identify and implement strategies to integrate pharmacists in the healthcare delivery system; 2) evaluate program impact on economic, clinical, and humanistic outcomes; and 3) strategically lead future innovation and bring research evidence to policy. The candidate will lead implementation science on the UAMS campus, working closely with faculty and staff from the Department of Pharmacy Practice, the UAMS Health Pharmacy and Therapeutics Service Line, the College’s Evidence Based Prescription Drug (EBRx) Program, the Translational Research Institute, the statewide Arkansas Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network (CPESN), and other Arkansas stakeholders. The successful candidate will also contribute to the department’s teaching and service missions, with flexibility in how these responsibilities align with their individual interests and expertise.

Its service units (Arkansas Poison and Drug Information Center, EBRx Program, and Nuclear Education Online Program) embody the College’s focus on entrepreneurship and innovation to evolve new models of patient care, education delivery, and pharmacy reimbursement. UAMS is an academic health science campus with Colleges of Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health, and the Graduate School. Faculty enjoy close collaboration among colleagues from eight institutes, eight regional campuses across the state, the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, and Arkansas Children’s healthcare system. Research interests align via the Translational Research Institute, which was founded in 2011 following a 2009 Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA). UAMS BioVentures facilitates commercialization of inventions and services to benefit public health and welfare. Little Rock, the capital of Arkansas, offers a unique professional and living environment. The metropolitan area is home to approximately 750,000 people. The Little Rock area offers a high quality of life with a modest cost of living, excellent schools, and abundant recreational and cultural opportunities.
The successful candidate will have an established reputation in the field of implementation science, a proven track record of extramural funding, extensive experience leading large-scale research or demonstration projects, and the leadership skills necessary to advance a thriving implementation science-focused research group. The candidate will have an advanced degree in the medical, social, or health sciences and will be qualified for a tenured professor/associate professor appointment. The position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Salary is competitive and commensurate with rank, education, and experience. Applicants should direct questions and application materials, including: 1) a letter of application summarizing their interest and qualifications in research, teaching, leadership, and service; 2) curriculum vitae; and 3) contact information for three professional references, to Dr. Amy Franks, Pharmacy Practice Department Chair, email: afranks@uams.edu; phone: 501-296-1296.
