The Mechanical & Technical Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and managing contracts for mechanical, technical equipment, and plant services. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality, compliance, and timely availability of goods and services to support smooth manufacturing operations.
Key Accountabilities
Procurement & Sourcing
Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for mechanical, technical, and engineering services.
Manage procurement of spare parts, plant maintenance services, utilities, and technical equipment etc.
Ensure compliance with company standards, safety, legal and sustainability requirements.
Vendor Management
Develop and maintain strong relationships with service providers and OEMs.
Monitor vendor performance, quality, and delivery timelines.
Resolve vendor-related issues, disputes, or escalations.
Cost & Contract Management
Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and pricing terms to achieve cost savings.
Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements.
Ensure contracts meet legal, commercial, and technical requirements.
Plant Support
Partner with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to understand technical requirements.
Support CAPEX and OPEX procurement for plant upgrades, shutdowns, and preventive maintenance.
Provide timely supply of critical spares and services to minimize downtime.
Process & Compliance
Ensure procurement activities align with company policies and audit requirements.
Maintain accurate procurement records, vendor contracts, and purchase orders.
Support digital procurement tools, e-sourcing, and continuous process improvements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
8-10 years of procurement experience in mechanical, engineering, or technical services (manufacturing industry preferred).
Strong knowledge of plant maintenance services, spare parts, and equipment categories.
Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and e-sourcing platforms, spend analysis.
