About the Position
The Generator Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel-powered generators and associated systems. This hands - on role requires strong diagnostic abilities, and manufacturer-specific training. This position will involve a mix of routine preventative maintenance, emergency response work, and field-based service calls. The ideal candidate thrives working independently, delivers a high standard of customer service, and ensures that all work meets industry safety and quality standards.

Holds EGSA Certification is preferred but not required.
Has proven experience in diesel engine maintenance and generator servicing.
Possesses manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler, Generac).
Demonstrates strong diagnostic and mechanical skills.
Works independently in varied field conditions.
Maintains accurate records and follows safety protocols.
Communicates clearly with internal teams and customers.
Is adaptable and reliable under pressure.
Holds EGSA Certification is preferred but not required.
Has proven experience in diesel engine maintenance and generator servicing.

Day in the Life
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on diesel generators.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including engines, transfer switches, and controls.
Conduct load bank testing, fuel system checks, oil changes, and coolant flushes.
Maintain accurate service records and comply with safety protocols and industry standards.
Interpret and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
Provide clear updates and recommendations to internal teams and customers.
Travel to job sites as needed and participate in on-call rotations.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including engines, transfer switches, and controls.
Conduct load bank testing, fuel system checks, oil changes, and coolant flushes.
Maintain accurate service records and comply with safety protocols and industry standards.
Interpret and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required, technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology or related field preferred.
EGSA Certified Technician (strongly preferred).
Proven experience in diesel engine maintenance and generator servicing.
Manufacturer-specific training preferred.
Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
Must be eligible for and willing to join IBEW Local 26 as a condition of employment.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
