Teton Valley Ranch Camp — Trips Assistant (Seasonal Leadership) | Summer 2026 (2 openings)
TVRC STAFF WILL BE AT ACA NATIONAL IN SAN DEIGO FOR AN OPPERTUNITY TO MEET IN PERSON OR INTERVIEW
Role summary
Trips Assistants are critical to the safe and efficient execution of TVRC’s wilderness trips program—supporting single-day, overnight, and multi-day trips that help campers thrive in the backcountry. This role is ideal for someone with strong backcountry experience who’s ready to step into a leadership/manager position with a focus on risk management, accountability, and operational excellence.
How you fit in
You serve on the Trips Leadership Team and help lead the systems behind great trips: staff training, briefings/debriefings, logistics, permits, gear, food coordination, and daily support for Trip Leaders.
Key responsibilities
- Support trips operations: briefings/debriefings, early-morning departures, and schedule management
- Maintain the trips logistical schedule and assist with reroutes when needed
- Communicate daily with Trip Leaders on logistics, risk management, gear, medicine, and food
- Help train, coach, and evaluate Trip Leaders during staff training and throughout the summer
- Track permit use days and support accurate reporting; coordinate with third parties as needed (contractors, land managers, etc.)
- Help manage the Backcountry Basement (gear systems, cleaning/repair, inventory, and orders)
- Drive groups to/from trailheads, lead trips as needed, and assist in backcountry emergencies
Employment Dates
Start May 17th, 2026 (or earler if available) and runs through August 21st, 2026
Compensation
Starts at $6,000 with increase based on actual employment dates, experence and relivent certifications
Requirements
What we’re looking for
- Thorough backcountry experience and strong risk-management mindset (we prioritize safe, well-run trips over summit goals)
- Ready to lead: organized, accountable, and comfortable coaching staff with clear expectations and feedback
- Strong communicator who can coordinate across Trip Leaders, support staff, and camp leadership
- Calm decision-maker under pressure; adaptable in dynamic environments
Minimum qualifications
- 21+ years old
- First Aid/CPR certified (WFR/WEMT preferred)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive camp vehicles
- Prior camp/residential experience (leadership preferred)
Schedule / time off
- Full, active camp days (typical day is 7:00am - 10:00pm)
- Time off is typically a 36-hour block each week
