Student Transportation of America is seeking an experienced Terminal Manager to lead transportation operations at our Jefferson City, Missouri location. This leadership position oversees daily school bus operations, driver recruitment and staffing, safety compliance, financial performance, and relationships with local school districts.

About the Position
The Terminal Manager is a salaried leadership role reporting to the Vice President of Operations. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the transportation terminal including driver staffing, dispatch operations, safety programs, financial reporting, and communication with school district officials and parents.
This role ensures safe, reliable, and on-time transportation for students while maintaining regulatory compliance and strong team leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of the Jefferson City transportation terminal and bus fleet
Recruit, hire, and retain qualified school bus drivers and substitute personnel
Supervise full-time staff, part-time drivers, and bus monitors
Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions when necessary
Oversee annual driver road tests and driver credential compliance
Ensure compliance with federal and state transportation regulations including DOT and OSHA requirements
Maintain accurate driver certification and credential records
Coordinate payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and monthly financial reporting
Monitor monthly Profit and Loss statements and fixed asset reporting
Work closely with school district transportation officials to ensure safe and efficient bus routes
Assist school districts in resolving routing issues with cost-effective solutions
Attend school board meetings when required
Ensure all drivers and staff receive required training and safety instruction
Plan and lead monthly driver safety meetings
Participate in annual budgeting and financial planning for the terminal
Develop charter transportation and summer business opportunities to maximize fleet utilization
Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards
Drive bus routes when needed to support operations
Required Qualifications
Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field preferred
Minimum five years of experience in transportation operations, fleet management, logistics, or school transportation
Minimum two years of leadership or management experience
Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and transportation safety regulations
Experience managing teams, operations, and financial performance
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems
Must be authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
