- Structured Cabling Technician
Description
The Structured Cabling Technician position is a fully on-site role serving projects across the DC, MD and VA metropolitan area, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial or industrial environments. This role involves the installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of low-voltage cabling systems, including Cat5e/6/6A, coaxial, and fiber optic cables. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently or as part of a team on fast-paced job sites.

Qualifications & Skills
Install, route, and secure structured cabling systems in commercial buildings
Terminate and test copper and fiber optic cables using industry-standard tools and procedures
Build and install MDF/IDF infrastructure including racks, patch panels, ladder trays, and grounding systems
Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, and reflected ceiling plans
Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other technicians to meet project deadlines
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and test results
Ensure compliance with safety standards and company protocols
Construction & Technical Knowledge
Minimum 3 years of experience in structured cabling installation
Proficient in using hand and power tools, cable testers, and fiber optic termination equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or elevated platforms
Familiarity with BICSI standards and TIA/EIA specifications
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus
OSHA confined-space certification is a plus
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
