FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Work Schedule: Part-time, 10-hour days, Saturday & Sunday (6:45a-4:45p)
JOB SCOPE: The SHINE (Start Helping Impacted Neighborhoods Everywhere) Crew Chief is responsible for leading crews of participants in the SHINE program to community service sites as prescribed by the Community Service Supervisor and Lead Crew Chief. The Crew Chief monitors the work and behavior of participants to ensure smooth and respectful interactions in the community as well as adequate work completed on each project. The Crew Chief collaborates with community partners in scheduling and completing work and ensures that each participant follows safety procedures as instructed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be able to be present at the designated work as scheduled and agreed with the SHINE program leadership team. May be asked to work outside of agreed upon schedule to ensure work coverage.
Follows established TEEM – Oklahoma County Community Service and SHINE policies and procedures and established protocols pertaining to management of community service participants.
Supervise daily activity of participants during their assignments. This can include tree removal, graffiti removal, traffic control, general landscaping, trash removal, and other activities approved by the Community Service Supervisor.
Inspects work quality and notes special problems and/or concerns.
Maintains and completes daily reports to document all activities performed by participants.
Works independently performing quality work within deadlines while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other team members.
Establishes and maintains effective professional working relationships with team members, participants and management.
Be honest, trustworthy, dependable, and flexible.
Manages behavioral issues that arise involving participants in a professional manner in accordance with TEEM policy.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
Ability to supervise, establish, and maintain cooperative relationships with employees and workers supervised.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction and undertake responsibilities with initiative and judgment.
Basic understanding of people in need and how to work with such individuals without enabling them.
Ability to work with staff and participants in a positive and productive manner.
Ability to work independently and as part of a group.
Ability to receive and adhere to instruction and direction from supervisor.
Desire to learn, develop and grow as a professional
Willingness and ability to adhere to TEEM’s policies and procedures
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). One year certificate from technical school; or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Driver’s License in good standing
Clean driving record/report

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving, mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious, places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
In addition to the above, work is performed both indoors and outdoors, exposed to heat, cold, extreme humidity, snow, rain and various weather conditions. Work may be performed in confined or cramped positions, and on slick and wet surfaces.
This individual will be exposed to vibrations, loud continuous noises, and offensive smells, dust, dirt and water. This position can be hazardous; will be exposed to injury from moving equipment, insect bites, and poison plants, flying objects, slippery surfaces, hazardous materials, and traffic.
