Description
Porter Wright has an opportunity for a full-time Research Analyst. This hybrid position reports to the Knowledge and Innovation Director and can be located in any of the firm’s offices. Primary responsibilities include providing reference and research services to attorneys and staff, assisting with training initiatives, and working on technology related projects.
Essential Duties:
- Provide quick reference and in-depth research services using a variety of legal and non-legal resources.
- Conduct background research on potential clients, industry trends, and subject-specific topics for attorneys and staff.
- Create and monitor news alerts and newsletters for cases, companies, and various legal topics for attorneys and staff.
- Assist with preparing and scheduling training classes for groups and individuals with differing needs and technology skill levels.
- Assist with providing instruction on research techniques and tools for attorneys and staff in live and virtual sessions.
- Assist with the maintenance and dissemination of resources through the firm’s Intranet and Learning Management System.
- Prepare and maintain instructional guides, pathfinders, and other documentation to promote Information Resource Center resources.
- Support knowledge management initiatives and assist with special projects as required.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining legal knowledge resources.
Requirements
Competencies:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of attorneys and staff.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize information to produce actionable intelligence for attorneys and staff.
- Strong customer service attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and stay current with the most effective legal research methods and various types of technologies.
- Highly dependable and able to provide high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Initiative and creativity strongly desired.
Qualifications:
- ALA accredited degree in Library and Information Science and/or a JD from an ABA accredited institution. Individuals with equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Law firm experience is highly desirable but not required.
- Knowledge of legal and non-legal research sources such as Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, CapIQ, HighQ, Intelligize, etc.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of free and fee-based business resources, subject specific databases, and legal analytics tools.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to learn new technologies. Web design experience desirable but not required.
- Ability to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
