Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama's Payroll Accounting department is seeking to hire a Payroll Specialist. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Uses the Banner system to enter personnel action forms to include appointments, salary changes, labor changes, terminations, etc.
Reviews web time entry time sheets for exempt employees to ensure leave and time policies are followed.
Audits transactions in the Kronos timekeeping system to ensure work is performed accurately and timely and follows hospital and campus policies.
Calculates payouts for terminating and resigning campus employees.
Processes retroactive payments for employees.
Provides back up on auditing, entering, and checking timesheets and applies personnel policies relating to time and attendance.
Tracks and monitors leave taken for campus employees under the Family Medical Leave Act and the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
Runs various reports in Banner and Kronos to review by Excel or PDF to assist with auditing and review of time records to ensure pay policies and payroll deadlines are followed.
Processes and posts amended timesheet through the Kronos system and ensure payment is processed in Banner.
Communicates with employees by telephone and in person concerning wages, taxes and deductions, and explains gross to net variances.
Prepares and analyzes reports in Microsoft Excel.
Covers other areas of responsibility during absences.
Ensures confidentiality of employee information.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required, which may include holidays.
Related duties as required.
