- Orthotic Technician
Description
The role of the orthotic technician is to fabricate, repair and maintain orthotic devices according to specifications and under the guidance of patient care providers.
Requirements
Job Duties:
1. To fabricate orthotic or devices including, but not limited to: modification, assembly, and final quality control measures.
2. Completion of assigned work for delivery per company standard time frames.
3. To learn and maintain knowledge of materials, techniques, procedures and technical skills current with existing state of the art designs in orthotics by personal study and continuing education courses.
4. Maintain coordination of work orders and updating of the work-in-progress board.
5. Quality workmanship evidenced by accuracy of fit, operation, durability and cosmetic appearance of orthoses fabricated or repaired.
6. Repair and routine maintenance of the full range of orthoses provided by the company.
7. To assist patient care providers as requested.
8. Shipping/Receiving of central fabrication which includes quality assurance review.
9. Maintain appropriate levels of inventory for fabrication materials.
10. Identifies and suggests cost-effective procedures in the fabrication process.
11. Cleanliness and orderliness of work spaces and common areas
12. Professionalism in conduct, appearance, and communication.
13. Strict adherence to all applicable safety precautions.
Skills/Abilities Needed:
Basic human anatomy
Orthotic nomenclature
Manual Dexterity
Strong fabrication procedures, techniques and practices
Very good working knowledge of material properties and requirements for safely working and processing all plastics, leather, fabrics, and metals used
Strong verbal and written comprehension
Ability to work under stress to accomplish deadlines
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Mechanical/Artistic aptitude
Hand tool and power equipment experience
