Morristown Eye Consultants is a busy, well established Ophthalmology Practice in Morristown, Morris County, New Jersey. We are seeking an experienced full-time, ophthalmic technician to join our well established team.
Requirements
- COA or COT
- Performing patient technical workups, medical histories and eye testing
- Entering patient health history into electronic medical record
- Promptly and professionally assisting the doctor in patient care
- Communicating with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes
Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) as indicated by the most recent certification requirements for positions within Ophthalmology
2+ years of experience with COA or 1+ years of experience with COT working in an ophthalmic/optometric practice setting
Experience working in contact lens practice and previous experience in patient education regarding the use of contact lens is preferred, but not mandatory
Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience
Knowledge of basic visual testing and certification
Basic proficiency in diagnostic and treatment procedures, including visual field testing, contact lenses, and ophthalmic surgery
General medical knowledge and be proficient in history taking
Demonstrated ability to accurately operate the following equipment: auto and manual Lensometer, Ascan, OCT Scan, visual field machine, automated tonometer machine, brightness acuity test machine, auto refractor, auto Keratometer, Tonopen, Statim sterilizer, projector, and Slit lamp
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) as indicated by the most recent certification requirements for positions within Ophthalmology
Hours:
Monday 6:45 am-4:00 pm
Tuesday 11:00 am-7:00 pm
Wednesday and Thursday 7:45 am-4:00 pm
Friday 6:45 am- 3:00 pm
