About the position
Responsible to assist job foremen and project management teams to maximize efficiencies of labor and schedule demands on projects by providing just-in-time delivery of installed items and coordinating the assignment and dispatch of field resources for project work. This position is responsible for labor planning, productivity measurements and oversight of assigned field-based staff on large volume commercial construction projects, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.
Day in the life
- Partners with field operations leadership on labor and capacity projections, hiring activities, performance planning, layoffs, and terminations, defining project requirements and establishing work priorities. Creates and updates project labor plans and communicates production schedules with the customer, dispatcher, account manager and project manager, including completion dates and times or changes to planned labor assignments.
- Collaborate with sales and project management personnel regarding project status information, problem resolution activities and ensures workload needs are being met daily. Prepares project resources, including job information and project packets, equipment and tooling plans and other required materials.
- Coordinates the assignment of field resources. Manages daily schedules and dispatches field personnel as needed. Accurately maintains a thorough schedule board. Manages all aspects of the dispatch software, to include creating service orders, dispatching functions, problem resolution and continuous improvement activities, supporting weekly audits, and providing training and assistance to field mobile users.
- Receives and returns customer service calls, handles inquiries and complaints, and provides customer and internal correspondence as needed, in a timely and accurate manner. Creates and maintains positive customer, vendor, and community relationships. Stays informed of new electrical codes, technology, safety procedures, techniques, and practices.
- Facilitates the acquisition, oversight, prioritization and maintenance of technology-related specialty tooling and equipment testing, and input to budget forecasts. Understands, coordinates, and performs required work to ensure efficient and effective success in meeting scheduled project benchmarks on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, while measuring productivity
- May hire, train, and develop; provides regular communication, mentoring and teambuilding to staff and other co-workers as needed. Plans, synchronizes and coordinates required trade and manufacturer field training and certification requirements. Ensures safety training is conducted and implemented correctly.
- Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
- Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
- Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience in business, engineering, construction management, building construction or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of electrical or construction experience in field operations, with a preferred concentration in large commercial construction projects.
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices. Must have extensive knowledge of the electrical code.
- Project management training, experience, and skills. Thorough understanding of the project life cycle. Knowledge of and proficiency with project management tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of general industry safety standards, procedures, and OSHA regulations. Skills to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong organizational, decision-making, critical thinking skills and detail orientation. Demonstrated high level of integrity and dependability.
- Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Effective independent problem solving, negotiation, time management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent hiring, collaboration, coaching, mentoring, training, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with diverse work teams. Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
Travel
- Occasional travel required.
Salary Range
- $70,000 - 85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
