Pay: $21.30/hour
FTE: 100%
Term: 7 - 10 weeks in Summer 2026, flexibility on start and end dates
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Job Summary:
The IT Intern supports the IT department in their summer processes to refresh and maintain devices and infrastructure, ensuring students, faculty, and staff have reliable access to the tools they need for teaching and learning. This role assists with hardware and software maintenance, account and device setup, troubleshooting, and technology inventory. The intern also supports instructional technology spaces, including testing and researching developing technologies. This is a hands-on learning opportunity for someone interested in how IT is managed in a professional workspace environment.
General Responsibilities:
- Installs, maintains, and updates hardware and software, including PCs, iOS devices, printers, and related accessories.
- Manages inventory, user accounts, and licenses.
- Works with Entra ID and InTune Policies.
- Troubleshoots software, hardware, and network problems.
- Documents and updates procedures, and develops policies to enhance IT security.
- Researches and evaluates hardware, software, technology services, and web applications.
- Supports use and maintenance of 3D design software, laser cutters, and 3D printers.
- Actively engages in the life of the school and contributes to community-wide events and programs.
- Upholds and models the mission, values, and strategic priorities of STS.
- Demonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
- Collaborates across departments and participates in meetings to support a cohesive preschool through eighth grade experience.
- Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
- Adheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of IT.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; interest in, or currently pursuing, a degree in computer science or a related field preferred.
- 1+ years of experience with Windows Servers, scripting, and Group Policy preferred.
- Comfortable working in a Microsoft Windows environment (Windows 10 or 11), including Microsoft 365 applications and Outlook.
- Experience setting up and maintaining networks preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computer maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to think through problems and troubleshoot logically.
- Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as bending, crouching, or sitting on the ground.
- Readiness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification, and maintain throughout employment
- Successful completion of required background checks in accordance with school policy and state regulations.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
- Strong communication, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency with basic technology tools and a willingness to learn school-specific systems.
- Commitment to the mission, values, and community of STS.
