Head of School
First Academy | First Baptist Church Douglas
First Academy is seeking a Christ-centered Head of School to lead the day-to-day operations of the school, support faculty and staff, and help advance the mission of Christian education with a biblical worldview. This person will provide spiritual, instructional, and administrative leadership while working closely with the First Academy Committee and church leadership. First Academy is a Preschool–8th grade ministry of First Baptist Church Douglas, serving approximately 300 students. Learn more at www.firstacademydouglas.org.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operations of the school
Supervise, encourage, and support faculty and staff
Promote academic excellence, curriculum development, and instructional improvement
Help cultivate and strengthen a Christ-centered school culture
Work with leadership on planning, budgeting, policy, and communication
Build strong relationships with parents, churches, and the community
Promote the school and support enrollment efforts
Qualifications
A clear and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
Agreement with and support of the school’s statement of faith and mission
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
A master’s degree in leadership, or willingness to complete one within a specified timeframe
Education certification
At least four years of successful classroom teaching experience
Position Details
This is a full-time, salaried, 12-month contracted position. The Head of School is responsible to the First Academy Committee and Associate Pastor and supervises teachers, staff, part-time staff, and volunteers. The Head of School is expected to be an active member of First Baptist Church Douglas and to serve as a ministry staff member of the church.
