Description
OverviewWindy Knoll Golf Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Golf Professional to lead all golf operations and help guide the continued revitalization of one of the Springfield area's most recognized public golf facilities.
The Head Golf Professional will oversee the full scope of golf operations including daily play management, tournaments and leagues, merchandising, instruction programs, and staff leadership. This position will play a key role in delivering an outstanding golf experience while helping grow participation and strengthen Windy Knoll's reputation in the local golf community.
This role is ideal for a hands-on golf professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about growing the game while building strong relationships with golfers of all skill levels.
Experience Required
- PGA Class A Member or PGA Associate actively pursuing Class A status
- Experience as a Head Golf Professional, Lead Assistant Professional, or similar leadership role preferred
- Strong knowledge of golf operations, tournament programming, and tee sheet management systems
- Demonstrated leadership and staff development experience
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Passion for growing the game and building strong relationships within the golf community
Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations
- Direct and manage daily golf operations including tee sheet management, golfer check-in, pace of play, and customer service
- Ensure a smooth and professional golf experience for all guests, leagues, and outing participants
- Coordinate closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to support excellent course conditions
- Manage the golf car program including daily cleanliness standards, routine maintenance scheduling, and proper supply stocking
- Plan and execute tournaments, leagues, outings, and special golf events
- Develop programming to increase participation including leagues, junior golf, clinics, and instructional opportunities
- Assist with private instruction and group clinics as scheduling permits
- Assist with the merchandising plan for the club including ordering, inventory control, merchandise displays, special orders, sales, customer service, and vendor relations
- Maintain vendor relationships and ensure the golf shop reflects a professional and welcoming environment
- Track retail performance and support revenue growth
- Recruit, train, and manage golf shop staff, starters, rangers, and outside service personnel
- Foster a team culture centered on professionalism, efficiency, and outstanding customer service
- Develop and maintain clear operating procedures for golf operations
- Assist ownership with golf operations budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring
- Track operational metrics including rounds played, pace of play, and customer satisfaction
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, increase rounds, and enhance the overall golf experience
