OverviewJob Description:
The Head Golf Professional is responsible for assisting the General Manager with oversight in many key areas of The Buckhorn Golf Course's operation. These responsibilities include but are not limited to, Customer Service; Golf Instruction & Programming; Group Outing and League Operations; Golf Shop Merchandising; and Human Resources .
- Customer Service - The Buckhorn Golf Course strives to always exceed customer expectations in both service and value. Lead by example always maintaining positive and productive relationships with The Buckhorn's Golf Shop, Guest Services, and Volunteer Staffs to ensure all guests are constantly and consistently extended "best in class" customer service with the goal of creating and retaining raving fans.
- Golf Instruction & Programming - Play the lead role in administering robust instruction and programming, including planning, and delivering all junior golf camps, "Learn to Play Golf" classes for beginner golfers, and individual golf lessons to customers. Strive to develop relationships by promoting and then providing golf instruction that leads to more satisfied customers because of playing better golf.
- Group Outing and League Operations - Assist by working closely with the General Manager in the coordination of any league play and group business at The Buckhorn to ensure proper event organization and setup with the goal of making each event a success for our clients and establishing long-term relationships with their group.
- Golf Shop Merchandising - Work closely with the General Manager and the Foresight Golf Director of Retail by monitoring golf shop neatness, proper inventory counts, ordering, receiving, and rotation of soft and hard goods. Share customer comments and suggestions with the General Manager and Director of Retail to facilitate the desired inventory of goods for sale.
- Human Resources - Play an active role in assisting the General Manager with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising The Buckhorn Golf Course's Golf Operations Staff, to specifically include the Guest Service, and Volunteer Team Members . Help to develop staff members through coaching to advance effectiveness and talent within the team.
Typical Functions
- Foster and use the best management practice of "Management by Walking Around," which includes walking the property daily to ensure that you are seen regularly by our customers and are available to help or to answer questions when needed. This practice also allows for observation as to efforts and service provided by non-management team members to ensure that they are given frequent feedback and suggestions regarding their performance and affirmation when they are seen to perform with excellence.
- Adhere to and participate in the philosophy of "Continual Improvement." The Buckhorn's Head Golf Professional should use their presence and ability to observe and maintain knowledge of the properties and golf industry to make recommendations as to how to continually get better for the sake of customer satisfaction and profitability of the businesses.
- Lead by example! Nothing is more powerful than the team witnessing the department heads handling customers, situations, and the details of business in action!
- Positively interact with guests to ensure their visit is a first-class experience from the time of arrival, throughout their golfing experience. Be an ambassador for the property and company.
- Ensure that the golf car fleet, clubhouse grounds, and main clubhouse facilities are clean and free of any unsightly trash or clutter.
- Maintain professional and pleasant telephone manners.
- Handle customer inquiries and/or complaints in accordance with The Buckhorn Golf Course's policies and procedures.
- Work with the General Manager and the golf shop staff to constantly monitor The Buckhorn Golf Course's tee sheet to ensure maximum utilization of each day's business.
- Keep golfers adequately informed of the activities on the golf product and encourage their participation when necessary. Be aware of golf course maintenance programs and course conditions.
- Develop dialogue with customers concerning their playing habits at Foresight Golf facilities and other golf courses. Note and report on customer likes and dislikes with our product.
- Coordinate and communicate regularly with The Buckhorn's General Manager, and when necessary, Golf Course Superintendent on all pertinent operational matters.
- Participate in Operations Committee Meetings by aiding the General Manager with providing a recap of recent business as it pertains to The Buckhorn Golf Course.

Experience Required
Employment Standards
- Minimum three to five years of experience in a service-oriented, hospitality industry, such as: golf course management, hotel, resort, restaurant, and retail or sports management.
- PGA Member or Apprentice actively pursuing membership is strongly preferred.
- Human resource management skills in employee relations, management styles, organizational development, work/family balance, time management, stress management, labor issues, leadership vs. management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effective negotiation skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
Benefits
Health Insurance - Health insurance is available through Foresight Golf. There is a 90-day waiting period before you are eligible. If you elect to have health insurance coverage, the company will pay a majority of your insurance premium. Dental, dependents, and other supplemental policies are available at your expense. The rates and percentages of company paid premiums are subject to change as our overall insurance costs change. This insurance program is part of a section 125 plan and is deducted prior to income taxes. Literature is available regarding insurance upon request.
Retirement Planning - Foresight Golf provides a 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan to help employees accumulate financial resources for retirement. The plan allows employees to contribute up to $17,000 annually. Foresight will match 15% of your investment to the plan up to 15% of your annual salary. You have the option to direct the investments into professionally managed investment funds or pick your own investments available in the plan. To be eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan an employee must complete 12 months of service and be 21 years of age or older. The employee may join the plan on the first day of the quarter following completion of their first year of service.
Vacation - Foresight Golf believes in the value of rest and relaxation away from the workplace and as a result, provides its employees with paid vacation. After one year of service, you are eligible for two weeks (80 hours) of paid vacation, and after your fifth year of employment, you will be eligible for three weeks (120 hours) of paid vacation.
Complimentary Golf and Other Discounts - Foresight Golf team members and their immediate family members receive complimentary golf at any Foresight Golf facility. To receive complimentary golf, family members must play with the Foresight Golf Team member.

Communication - A company cell phone allowance, e-mail address, and business cards will be provided for your use.
PGA Dues - The Buckhorn Golf Course will pay for local section and national annual PGA dues. Any additional or supplemental services provided by the PGA, such as life insurance, retirement savings, etc. will not be covered. Additionally, any costs associated with your PGA education, such as testing fees, travel, etc. are also not covered.Uniforms Allowance - Uniforms will be provided to you in the form of 7 golf shirts per year. These will be selected from pro shop inventory. All other golf shop merchandise will be sold to you at cost plus ten percent to cover shipping and handling.
Employee Meals - Employee meals will be provided to you at the discounted employee price, which is approximately 50% off the regular price.
