Description
OverviewPosition Overview
The Head Golf Professional is responsible for managing all aspects of the golf operation to ensure an exceptional experience for members and guests. This role oversees the professional shop, tournament operations, instructional programs, and outside service staff, while serving as a primary ambassador for the club's culture and brand.
Core Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Supervise daily tee-sheet management, pace of play, and golf cart fleet maintenance.
- Retail & Merchandising: Oversee the procurement, display, and sale of golf equipment and apparel; manage inventory levels and profitability of the Pro Shop.
- Tournament & Event Planning: Organize and execute a diverse calendar of member tournaments, corporate outings, and social events.
- Instruction & Player Development: Lead the golf instruction program, providing private lessons, group clinics, and junior golf initiatives to increase participation.
- Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team of Assistant Professionals and outside service staff.
- Member Relations: Maintain high visibility and engage with the membership to solicit feedback and foster a welcoming community atmosphere.
Experience Required
Qualifications & Skills
- PGA/LPGA Membership: Class A PGA or LPGA Professional in good standing.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in golf operations or as a First Assistant Professional.
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of budgeting, P&L management, and retail math.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts and lead a team.
- Technical Proficiency: Mastery of tournament software (e.g., Golf Genius) and Point of Sale (Jonas) systems.
