Position Description for: Grantmaker Membership Manager
Location: Phoenix, AZ; currently AZ Impact for Good operates in a hybrid work environment.
Travel: Required periodically, depending on location of in-person events throughout the state
Hours: This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Monday-Friday with flexible hours within a normal workday timeframe (6am-6pm for example).
Reports To: Director of Membership & Partners
Supervises: This position does not currently have any direct reports.
Salary: $60,000-65,000 per year; benefits include employer contribution for individual health plans, tele-doc, vision, dental, life, AD&D and short-term and long-term disability; 401k with employer match; work-from-home stipend; vacation time; paid holidays; and flexible work schedule.
Position Summary
The Grantmaker Membership Manager joins the membership team and works in conjunction with the Director of Membership & Partners and the Membership Manager. This role is responsible for statewide engagement, retention, and growth of grantmaking and philanthropic members, while collaborating with the program & events team to provide meaningful opportunities for collaboration, learning, and impact across sectors.
AZ Impact for Good is in a unique lifecycle phase, combining the deep history of its legacy organizations with the energy and innovation of an organization in growth. This position offers the opportunity to shape the statewide philanthropic landscape, develop new partnerships, and strengthen Arizona’s nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, collaborative, strategic, and has experience working as a [NG1] grantmaker in the sector.
Duties and Responsibilities
Membership
o Collaborate with the director to develop and execute a comprehensive, relationship-centered membership strategy to engage, retain, and grow grantmaking and philanthropic members, grounded in clear value delivery and a strong statewide funder community.
o Manage annual membership revenue goals using a philanthropy-serving organization (PSO) approach, centered on alignment, partnership, and service.
o Provide high-touch member support through responsive communication, strategic check-ins, and personalized engagement opportunities that deepen connection and value.
o Build and steward trust-based relationships with grantmakers by understanding their priorities, learning interests, and areas of focus to connect them with relevant programs, peers, and opportunities.
o Represent AZIFG in philanthropic, community, and cross-sector spaces, clearly articulating the organization’s role as Arizona’s statewide PSO.
o Collaborate with marketing department to ensure grantmaker-related messaging reflects the unique value proposition for funders within the PSO space.
o Maintain strong relationships with peer PSOs nationwide to align with standards, trends, practices, and innovations.
Education Programming
o Collaborate with Programs & Events department to inform and develop educational and networking opportunities for grantmaker members.
Philanthropic Services
o Cultivate trust-based partnerships with foundations, corporations, DAF sponsors, and other funders, serving as a connector, strategist, and resource to support effective, community-informed philanthropy.
o Collaborate with the development team to facilitate investments in AZIFG from grantmaker members.
o Ensure an exceptional experience for philanthropic members and partners through transparent communication, personalized engagement, and opportunities to meaningfully contribute to the statewide impact.
Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
Grantmaker Membership Manager positio[NG2] n requires various prerequisite skills, abilities and qualifications needed for success, including:
Required
Proven Track Record: 1-3 years of experience in grantmaking, philanthropy-related education, or related area.
Tech Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft 365, database management systems (CRM/AMS/LMS), and teleconferencing tools.
Sector Knowledge: Deep understanding of nonprofit and philanthropic organizations’ challenges, opportunities, and needs.
Effective Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate data into compelling, actionable insight.
Relationship Building: Excellent conflict resolution and people skills and ability to build lasting relationships.
Highly Organized: Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and tasks simultaneously while ensuring that deadlines are consistently met.
Commitment to Mission: A deep commitment to AZ Impact for Good’s values and mission, with the ability to advocate for the organization effectively in all interactions.
Physical Requirements
The person in this position will occasionally lift or move objects of moderate weight (i.e., boxes of printed materials, supplies or meeting tables) and assorted items needed for meeting set-up (i.e., conference telephone, catering, video camera). The person must be able to frequently operate a computer and remain in a stationary position. A valid Arizona driver’s license is required. This position may require working beyond regular hours as required for event planning and delivery.
