The Farm at Lee Martinez Park has served as an educational and hands-on family fun experience for Fort Collins residents and visitors since 1985. The farm hosts interactive experiences, farm animals, party rentals, pony rides, a farm store, and even more for the many guests seeking local fun. We are hiring for a Technician I, Recreation (The Farm) who will be a contributing member of the Farm’s team in providing a safe and enjoyable farm setting; feeding and caring for livestock; maintaining the farm grounds and animal pens; and assisting with farm programs, activities, and special events. There is also daily contact with the visiting public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
* Feed and care for livestock including daily pen cleaning and maintenance.
* Answer questions from the visiting public.
* Give educational tours, assist in children’s programs/ events, driving hayrides for the public
*Perform tasks as outlined by the farmer such as animal health care, cutting the grass, milking the cow, repairing fences, construction work, painting, preparing animals for program use, etc.
* Report animal food needs, damage, or missing tools and equipment
* Operate farm equipment including ¾ ton truck with stock trailer, small front end loader, lawn mower, and tractor with attachments such as hayrack, rotary mower, snow plow, harrows, plow and disc.
* Use hand tools related to carpentry, plumbing and excavation.
* Responsible for purchasing and reconciling procurement card receipts.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of farm animals and their care.
Skills to provide basic health care for animals.
Skills to do simple machinery maintenance, carpentry, building and fence maintenance.
Ability to operate trucks, tractors and similar equipment.
Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
Knowledge of Farm Hand Job Description.
Ability to work outdoors in seasonal conditions on a daily basis.
Ability to effectively deal with volunteers, help other staff, and serve the visiting public and the children in The Farm programs. Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with co-workers, participants and the public.
Communicates effectively in both oral and written form with external and internal customers.
Ability to show sensitivity in dealing with all age groups, persons with disabilities, and a diverse population.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Experience Requirements
5 years experience working with animals.
