Position Summary:
As the Dirt and Base Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing all dirt and base-related activities on construction projects. Your role will require exceptional leadership skills, a strong focus on safety, and a proven ability to manage projects effectively, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the dirt and base crew, promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and teamwork on the job site.
- Project Oversight: Plan and coordinate all aspects of dirt and base operations, ensuring completion in accordance with project specifications and timelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project management, estimators, and other superintendents to ensure effective resource allocation and adherence to production goals.
- Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all team members comply with safety standards and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Budget Management: Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets and schedules, making necessary adjustments to address any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Communication: Maintain clear communication with all project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and site personnel, to keep everyone informed about project progress and changes.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of work performed to ensure quality standards are met and that the work aligns with company policies and customer expectations.
- Resource Management: Evaluate the condition and capabilities of equipment and materials, coordinating procurement and maintenance as needed to support project goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Strong knowledge of dirt and base operations, techniques, and materials.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate heavy machinery.
- CPR, First Aid, and OSHA certification are preferred.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising quality.

Work Environment:
The work environment frequently involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Employees may work in inclement weather and extreme conditions, including high noise levels at construction sites.
Physical Demands:
This position requires lifting heavy objects, prolonged standing and walking, and performing strenuous labor under challenging conditions. It demands good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina for effective execution of job duties.
