Position Description:
The Director, Unit Financial Administration is responsible for delegated oversight, administration and management of fiscal, clinical, academic and research functions which includes comprehensive financial activity, budget planning, reporting, comparison and analysis, forecasting, grants, contracts, human resources, clinical practice, facilities, regulatory compliance to support and sustain the department while working to identify opportunities to increase support and services to meet strategic initiatives. This position serves as the point of contact and indirect oversight to division support staff for budget and financial functions, as well as assisting in development and implementation of the financial and budget plans. This Director reports to the Executive Director, providing direct support and coverage in their absence as well as consistent collaboration during normal day-to-day operations and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Budget Development and Oversight
- Collaborate with the Executive Director in development of forecasted $45 million department budget. Including, but not limited to, the review and process of budget transfers and revisions.
- Oversight and financial management across multiple cost centers for more than $5 million in gifts and endowments.
- Maintain access and knowledge of University financial and budgeting software and systems. Including but not limited to training and support for direct reports and division key contacts.
- Compile budgets for grant applications and budget projects for program changes.
Department Financial Management Operations
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports for presentations to department leadership.
- Oversee finance and division personnel in appropriate accounts payable and receivable processes and record maintenance, to ensure timely disbursements and collections.
- Process and oversee timely and accurate post award accounting of grants and contracts. Including, but not limited to, the reconciliation of accounts for compliance in accordance with sponsoring agency/contract conditions and requirements.
- Oversee and manage department-wide account reconciliations, credit card transactions, and deposits to verify charges are appropriate and accurate.
- Manage and approve all expense requests and accounts payable for the Department of Pediatrics faculty and staff. Ensuring timely and accurate disbursement and records retention.
- Process faculty data and compensation changes, one-time payments, and costing allocations as necessary.
- Ensures that all operations comply with required financial guidelines and university policies for Finance and Purchasing.
Department Support and Finance Leadership
- Communicate and build relationships with division chiefs, faculty, supervisors and managers regarding financial and administrative issues.
- Establish and maintain in-house accounting controls and procedures.
- Participate in cross functional teams and collaborate with other department directors as required.
- Represent the Finance and Accounting team to share functional expertise in order to support operations and create growth.
People Management
- Manage and support daily operations and tasks for the (3) Unit Financial Administrator III positions.
- Delegate the workflow or processes needed for effective finance and accounting transactions and day-to-day operation.
- Provide management and support for daily tasks, policy or procedure changes, necessary training, and staff performance oversight.
- Complete annual performance reviews as required by University policy for positions with direct reports.
- Indirectly supervise, partner with, and train all support staff responsible for financial or budgetary transactions across all divisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, word.
- Workday software knowledge or experience.
- Experience in Accounting or Finance Management, in a University or Higher Education Institution.
- People Leader or Management experience.

Target Compensation Maximum:
$143,193.00
Target Compensation Minimum:
$95,428.00
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
