Description
The Office of Research is looking to fill the role of Contracting Officer.
Our position’s qualification requirements are a bachelor's degree and 4 years’ experience in related area such as paralegal, analyzing legal documents, administering programs, and grants. Our preferred qualifications are 4 years’ paralegal or equivalent experience negotiating and managing the execution of research agreements or a J.D.
Requirements
The Contracting Officer is responsible for drafting and facilitating the timely negotiation and execution of research related agreements including but not limited to Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Confidentiality Agreements (CDAs), Data Use Agreements (DUAs), and other assigned agreements, Advise researchers on the appropriate agreement type based on the activity governed by the agreement and best university and industry practices.
This role effectively monitors the progress of agreements utilizing defined metrics using appropriate tools, including but not limited to, turn-around-time and time-to-execution. Understands metrics and reporting constructs to provide transparency and accurate timely information to stakeholders, as well as make recommendations for process improvements to increase efficiency in contract execution.
Maintains integrity and accuracy of contract records and files in university repository. Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues, management, campus stakeholders and contracting parties to ensure consistency in terms and approaches. Other duties as assigned as it relates to the successful execution of research related agreements.
