Description
Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Commercial Origination Manager for their Carter Global Power Division in Richmond, Virginia. The Commercial Origination Manager plays a critical role in developing and executing natural gas supply and infrastructure strategies that enable our Energy-as-a-Service solutions. The Commercial Origination Manager sits within the Commercial team and is responsible for originating, evaluating, and advancing fuel-related opportunities that support distributed power projects across data center, utility, oil and gas, and industrial markets. The individual in this role works closely with Business Development, Finance, Engineering and external stakeholders to deliver fuel solutions for our power projects-both grid-connected and behind-the-meter.Seeking candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Energy Management, Finance, or a related field; Minimum ten years of experience in natural gas markets, commercial origination, fuel procurement, midstream development, or energy infrastructure; Experience supporting or leading negotiations of fuel-related agreements; Experience supporting customer-facing, mission-critical applications (data centers, industrial, utilities, oil and gas).
Requirements for the Commercial Origination Manager position include:
- Strong understanding of natural gas supply, transportation, pipeline development, and commercial contracting.
- Must have ability to evaluate complex commercial, technical, and regulatory considerations and translate them into actionable strategies.
- Familiarity supporting project-financed or long-term contractual models (PPA, EaaS, lease-and-service models).
- Knowledge of pipeline permitting, right-of-way, and ownership structures.
- Understanding of CNG compression, transportation, storage, and delivery economics.
- Solid decision-making abilities.
- Must be a collaborative, cross-functional communicator.
- Must be results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership.
- Must have an excellent driving record.
- Must be willing to travel, including overnight or out-of-town via car or airplane.
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be able to engage in effective and persuasive discussions on complex topics with top management and other company personnel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have good attention to detail.
- Strong organization skills with the ability to effectively prioritize (with changing priorities), multi-task, and address issues quickly and professionally.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills required.

Physical requirements must be met for the Commercial Origination Manager job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
