Job Summary
The Nursing Director provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing workforce utilization. Working closely with executive, regional, and site leadership, this role develops, implements, and sustains initiatives that support effective staffing, high-quality patient care, and efficient use of nursing resources. The position monitors workforce metrics, guides operational planning, and ensures nursing operations align with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.
Essential Job Functions
Plan, organize, and direct daily nursing operations for clinic or health center settings, including staffing standards, work quality, and productivity
Monitor compliance with licensure, accreditation, and regulatory requirements; recommend and implement corrective actions as needed
Evaluate subordinate performance and address issues related to grievances, discipline, and employee relations
Advise nurse managers and nursing staff on administrative, management, and technical procedures
Maintain effective interdisciplinary working relationships across departments and care teams
Participate in internal and external committees and team-building initiatives to promote collaboration and positive work environments
Interpret, establish, and communicate nursing philosophy, organizational objectives, policies, procedures, and standards of nursing practice
Direct preparation and management of budgets for assigned areas, including staffing, fixed assets, and capital projects
Determine organizational structure, nursing operations, methods, and standards for assigned units
Serve in an administrative capacity as required and perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related administrative field
Master’s degree in nursing or administration (e.g., healthcare, public, or business administration)
Four years of nursing management experience at the Nurse Manager level or higher in a clinical environment
Licenses & Certifications
Active and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse
Valid driver’s license or ability to meet transportation requirements for job-related duties
Physical Requirements
Light physical effort, including occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, bending, stooping, squatting, and considerable walking
Preferred Qualifications
Additional nursing management experience beyond minimum requirements
Doctoral degree in nursing, health administration, business administration, or public administration
