Our Float Pool provides nurses for units that require additional resources in caring for patients. A staffing coordinator makes assignments based on each nurse's skills and interests. The Float Pool offers and excellent opportunity to work in different nursing specialties and select the one that's right for you.
4, 6, 8,10 & 12 hour shifts available! Full-time, part-time & PRN
Acute Care Rotation
This unique opportunity will allow a new graduate nurse to work on and gain clinical strength on several different units during their first year of nursing allowing for a broader range of experiences. This position will rotate in our Acute Care Division and will include highly complex medical, surgical and telemetry management of a broad range of diagnoses. After gaining experiences and building relationships on a variety of units, you will better understand the different patient populations and will have the opportunity to apply for full time positions on those units as they become available. Heart Center/Cambridge -Rotation Position
This unique opportunity will allow a new graduate nurse to work on and gain clinical strength on several different units during their first year of nursing allowing for a broader range of experiences. This position will rotate in our Heart Center and Cambridge Tower. After gaining experiences and building relationships on a variety of units, you will better understand the different patient populations and will have the opportunity to apply for full time positions on those units as they become available. The Clinical Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients. Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population. Coordinates care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care. Follows organizational policies in providing safe patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients.
- Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population.
- Coordinates care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care.
- Follows organizational policies in providing safe patient care.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate
- Associate Degree Nursing For ADN prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017, must complete BSN degree by the fifth anniversary of employment as an RN with UKHA
- 6 months to 2 years' experience as a Clinical Nurse
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree Nursing
Required Licensure and Certification
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing (Kansas) or compact license
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days
