OverviewKingston, WA | White Horse Golf Club is nestled among the old growth fir, pine and cedar trees above the beautiful Puget Sound in the town of Kingston, WA and is considered one of the state's premier public facilities. White Horse Golf Club consistently receives both praise and awards for its wonderful course conditions and layout and well stocked golf shop. Rated as the #7 "Best New Public golf course" to open in 2007 by Golf Digest magazine. White Horse is also the home course for the LPGA Tour's Legends Cup tournament played each June. White Horse is enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels and boasts five sets of tees to make all players experiences both memorable and enjoyable.
General Position Summary: This First Assistant position provides assistance to White Horse Golf Club management team for the daily operations of golf course. Assists with teaching lessons, managing tournaments, and with controlling facility assets. Provides Spectacular Customer Service during both internal and external interactions.

Experience Required
- Class A Member in good standing strongly preferred; Associate in good standing (L2 or higher) required as a professional certification
- Previous supervisory experience required or strongly preferred
- Ideally 1-2 years of experience in golf operations, with oversight of staff experience etc.
- Golf Genius and relevant POS experience strongly preferred.
Job Conditions: Working conditions include working during busy times of the day and evenings. Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule during the golf season to accommodate various activities. Conditions will also include evenings, weekends and holidays.
Essential Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Maintains positive and productive relationships between the golf club facility and golfers, guests, employees, community and the industry
- Assists with preparations for event outings and their procurement including scorecards, cart signs, scoreboard designs and set up, rule sheets, summary sheets, player pairing and all food beverage needs Assistant with overseeing tournaments, marketing, merchandising, club fitting, golf lesson programs and junior golf camps/clinics
- Lead Administator for all club related handicapping needs, along with monitoring and transmissions of clubs United States Golf Association Golf Handicap Information Network (USGA GHIN) handicaps on a regular basis to ensure compliance and accuracy of individual player scores
- Maintains a safe and hazard free working environment and complies with all OSHA required training
- Lead Assistant management team in managing the driving range operations to achieve maximum utilization and revenue profitability
- Lead Assistant for Golf Course management in controlling and management of checking in of players, control of the tee times, and the speed of play that ensures an enjoyable experience for all customers
- Provides training to pro shop personnel
Secondary Functions:
- Required to know how to operate all facilities vehicles to include: golf cart, range picker, beverage cart, course gators and how to troubleshoot potential problems that may arise
- Provides assistance and makes recommendations to the General Manager on proposed budget items, capital expense considerations,etc
- Lead Assistant in Golf Operations for management in all aspects of performance management (i.e., hiring, coaching and corrective action, performance evaluations, etc)
- Attends assorted continuing education training sessions as approved by the General Manager to maintain certifications
- All other duties as assigned by management
Job Scope: Performs essential and secondary functions with minimal supervision. Operates from established Port Madison Enterprises policies and procedures. Decisions are made within general company policy constraints, but requires independent decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Lead Assistant [under direction of the Head Professional] with supervision of all White Horse golf staff.
Interpersonal Contacts: Has regular contact with others both inside and outside the organization. The most common contacts are with managers/supervisors and employees. The most frequent external contacts are with guests and potential customers. Internal interactions involve information exchange and some problem solving.
Specific Job Skills:
- Ability to communicate professionally with both guests and employees
- Organized and able to carry out tasks at the direction of the supervisor
- Ability to stay positive and focused while working in a fast-paced situations
- Able to work well with others in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect
- Cash handling experience required
- Holds valid Washington state drivers license
- Ability to operate various golf industry point-of-sale systems
- Ability to solve problems effectively
Benefits
Income & Benefits
- $48,000-$60,500 salary range per year based on candidates experience and qualifications. This first assistant role is considered management level, thus reasonable amounts of overtime, especially during peak season should be expected.
- For the First Assistant PGA professional, lesson revenues based on teaching experience with club members, guest and junior programs. Junior golf camp, White Horse junior league and league administrative revenues. Possible range, based primarily on the professional's ability to engage with members and guests, etc. is $8,000-$12,000 in instruction income.
