Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Provide alumni engagement programing for specific college(s) as assigned.
- Partner with the development unit leader/unit development team to design and implement a forward-thinking engagement and development strategy aligned with the unit’s advancement priorities and strategic goals.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends and travel.
Alumni Relations
- Serve as primary point of contact with the alumni advisory board of assigned college/unit(s).
- Manage an engagement portfolio to engage alumni personally, professionally, and philanthropically.
- Ensure coordination of College and University alumni activities by attending monthly meetings, communicating with assigned Purdue for Life staff representatives, and engaging the alumni volunteers.
- Participate in the creation of engagement events designed to connect alumni and friends of the College/University with leadership.
- Represent college(s) and the PFLF Engagement Team at Purdue events which may include Distinguished Alumni, Outstanding Alumni, Homecoming, Spring Fest, Dean’s Club and/or other events as needed.
- Provide valuable public relations to all Purdue constituents by volunteering at, participating in, and attending college/university activities.
- Manage questions and follow up from alumni.
- Develop and facilitate communities/mentoring opportunities with your unit hosted on Purdue Ties
Administrative
- Work cooperatively to achieve the Purdue for Life advancement team goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with Purdue alumni from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds necessary.
- Articulate the strategic mission of Purdue University, Purdue for Life Foundation, and the College of Engineering with tact and diplomacy at all times.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including the ability to communicate well in person, in writing and speaking before groups.
- Skilled at conversation and networking
- Attention to detail required.
- Must be a team player.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, project management, motivational, initiative, problem-solving, creativity and customer service skills required.
- Must be able to meet established deadlines in a timely manner.
- Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, data query, internet, etc. necessary.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule with up to 3 days a week in the office in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Requirements
Required Education, Experience and Benefits Summary
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience required.
- 2 years of experience working in alumni relations or development preferred.
Job Level: Professional 4
